Dogpig Art Cafe

Dogpig has opened in Kaohsiung for almost 10 years. Ever since the owner rented this place ten years ago, the interior has not undergone any special changes. It preserves its original, postmodern simple style. The kanban of the Café has a picture of a dog riding on a pig. This is where the café derives its name. It shows the style of this café: candid and direct.

Even though it is a café, but what makes Dogpig famous is not the coffee it serves, but rather, the space and the activities in the café. The owner claims himself to be an action artist. He wants to provide a platform for all kinds of experimental and local artists to showcase their performances and exchange ideas. An old piano is placed in the café. It is actually too old to be played, and a lot of the keys are already out of tune. But playing this broken piano actually is one of the “attractions” of the café. The café is very spacious. Artists can display their works or give a performance anywhere they want. They can also change the setting or decorate the café at will.
